Every single Monday on Prep Redzone Oklahoma, we have gotten the week started with our top ten games across the state. With week ten here, this is the final week of the regular season and it’s the final week where we’ll have our top ten game feature on Monday. We have several district championship match-ups that lead this week’s games.
1) #1 STILLWATER (9-0) AT #3 MUSKOGEE (9-0)
This game is hands down the game of the week going into the final week of the regular season as we have #1 Stillwater and #3 Muskogee going head to head for the district championship. Both teams come into this week at 9-0 and have looked fantastic all season long. Many expected the Pioneers to be in this position at the beginning of the season but maybe not the Roughers as they were coming off a 2-8 record in 2021. Both teams have outstanding quarterbacks with the Pioneers led by senior Gage Gundy Gage Gundy 6'3" | 200 lbs | QB Stillwater | 2023 State OK , who is getting better and better every time he steps on the field. The Roughers counter with sophomore quarterback Jamarian Ficklin Jamarian Ficklin 6'1" | 180 lbs | QB Muskogee | 2025 State OK , who has been one of the breakout stars for this season. This game has been circled for about a month now and it’s finally here. It’s not crazy to think that this might be the first of two meetings between these two top teams.
2) #3 HERITAGE HALL (8-1) AT #8 MARLOW (7-2)
In another district championship match-up, we have #3 Heritage Hall hitting the road to square off with #8 Marlow. It was a bit of a slow start for the Outlaws as they moved up to Class 3A after winning it all in 2A a season ago. They began the year 3-2 but haven’t lost since and are in a position to capture the district championship if they can upset the visiting Chargers. The problem with that is how well the Chargers have been playing ever since senior running back and linebacker River Faulkner River Faulkner 5'11" | 205 lbs | ATH Heritage Hall | 2023 State OK returned to the lineup. Heritage Hall has run through the district schedule and the backfield duo of Faulkner and junior quarterback Andy Bass Andy Bass 6'0" | 195 lbs | ATH Heritage Hall | 2024 State OK appear to be one of the best duos in Class 3A this season. But both teams are playing good football and that’s exactly what you want going into week ten.
3) IDABEL (7-2) AT #5 EUFAULA (8-1)
In Class 2A, it’s another district title showdown as #5 Eufaula plays host to Idabel in a battle featuring the team of this year with Eufaula against the potential team of the next few years with Idabel. The Ironheads have one of the best quarterbacks in the state with senior Luke Adcock Luke Adcock 6'3" | 205 lbs | QB Eufaula | 2023 State OK . Idabel counters with an incredibly young but talented team, featuring the state’s top 2025 prospect in running back Ravian Larry Ravian Larry 6'1" | RB Idabel | 2025 State OK , who is an absolute star already in southeastern Oklahoma. And that star would get a lot brighter if the Warriors go on the road to knock off a Eufaula team right before the playoffs begin. Both teams had early season setbacks with Idabel beginning the year 1-2 and Eufaula dropping their season opener to Vian. But both teams haven’t lost since district play began.
4) #9 MIDWEST CITY (7-2) AT #10 ELGIN (8-1)
The winner of this match-up will claim the district crown for 5A-1 as #10 Elgin hosts #9 Midwest City. Both teams had different roads to get here. And it’s an interesting match-up featuring two teams that weren’t even in Class 5A a season ago. Midwest City came into this season after dropping down from 6A-2 but would drop their first two games to rivals Carl Albert and Del City. But they’ve been perfect ever since, including a shootout win over Noble last week. For Elgin, they moved up from Class 4A and were one of the surprise teams of the 2022 season. They began the year 6-0 and have won their last two games, including a close one over Lawton MacArthur, to put themselves in a position to capture the district championship. The winner here will get a much easier path in the playoffs.
5) #5 JENKS (7-2) AT #2 BIXBY (9-0) (THURS.)
Coming into this season, it seemed like this game was going to be a lock for the game of the week. But the combination of Bixby’s dominance and Jenks’ rocky season has led to some of the shine being taken away but not much. We’re still talking about a game that will be nationally televised on ESPN2 on Thursday night. Jenks is coming off a big overtime win over Broken Arrow, in which they erased not one, but two deficits of 14 points to knock off the Tigers. Bixby has had Jenks’ number over the last few seasons but this is the first time that this game is a district contest since before the split in Class 6A. The Spartans are beating their opponents by an average of nearly 60 points per game this season and haven’t lost since 2018. That loss was to this week’s opponent in the Trojans from Jenks.
6) #4 BETHANY (8-1) AT NEWCASTLE (7-2)
#4 Bethany has put themselves in the driver’s seat for the district crown but they still have to take care of business on the road against Newcastle. The Bronchos beat Blanchard last week, setting up a three-way tie with the Lions and Tuttle. If Bethany wins by at least nine points, they’ll wrap up the district crown. If they don’t, it could come down to the three-way tiebreaker, or even a head to head with Tuttle. For Newcastle, the Racers are already in the playoffs and now it just comes down to what seed they’ll be. With a win, they can avoid finishing as the four seed and avoid a first round match-up against Elk City. Bethany is led by senior star Taylor Heim Taylor Heim 6'4" | 185 lbs | ATH Bethany | 2023 State OK , who was lights out on both sides of the ball last week in the win over Blanchard. They’ll lean on him again on Friday night.
7) ADA (6-3) AT #9 BROKEN BOW (7-2)
Some districts in Class 4A are pretty straight forward when it comes to district scenarios for the playoffs. 4A-4 is not one of those districts. This district has fallen into chaos and we could get an added element of it on Friday night as Ada travels to southeastern Oklahoma to face off with Broken Bow. Ada is coming off a loss to Poteau but they’ve already clinched their playoff spot. They could continue the chaos in this district with a win on the road, which could set up a scenario where there’s a four-way tie. Hilldale and Poteau have to lose as well but we’ve seen some crazy results in this district already this season. With a win, Broken Bow remains in the hunt for the district crown. A loss will more than likely make them the four seed, sending them on the road to face top-ranked Cushing next week.
8) #9 WOODLAND (6-3) AT #5 TONKAWA (8-1)
We mentioned last week how big this two-week stretch to finish the season would be in Class A. Last week, Woodland fell to Hominy, as the Bucks continue to remain undefeated. This week, the Cougars will now travel to face another top five team in Tonkawa, who’s only loss was to district foe Hominy. The winner of this match-up on Friday night will decide who gets a home playoff game and who has to go on the road next week. The winner will go into the playoffs with some momentum while the loser will have to regroup and will have a much more difficult path in the postseason. Both teams have been on a roll over the last month, with the exception of losses to Hominy. We expect this to be the best game in Class A and the Cougars have quite a bit of experienced talent on their side.
9) #2 CARL ALBERT (7-2) AT PIEDMONT (6-3)
#2 Carl Albert has already locked up the district crown but they’ll look to finish off an unbeaten district slate when they hit the road to face Piedmont. The Wildcats are coming off a tough loss to Bishop McGuinness and it looks like they will all but certainly finish as the four seed unless they stun the Titans and Guthrie loses to winless Shawnee. If you’re planning on attending this game, make sure to be on time because both teams love to run the football and it might not last very long. Piedmont’s flexbone offense is once again one of the more unique offenses in Class 5A. While Carl Albert counters with junior running back Xavier Robinson Xavier Robinson 6'2" | 225 lbs | RB Carl Albert | 2024 State OK , who’s enjoying a breakout season. And senior quarterback Reed Dequasie Reed Dequasie 6'2" | DB Carl Albert | 2023 State OK has returned to the lineup and he’s been an added threat in the running game.
10) #2 REJOICE CHRISTIAN (9-0) AT PAWHUSKA (6-3)
Similar to the Bixby-Jenks match-up, this was another game that we had circled prior to the season but it’s lost some shine as Rejoice Christian has been without senior quarterback Chance Wilson Chance Wilson 6'3" | 185 lbs | QB Rejoice Christian | 2023 State OK and Pawhuska has dropped a few games in district play. The Eagles will travel to Pawhuska to wrap up the regular season, having already locked up the district championship. This was also supposed to be a fantastic quarterback match-up with Wilson and the Eagles squaring off with Pawhuska senior quarterback Todd Drummond Todd Drummond 6'4" | 200 lbs | QB Pawhuska | 2023 State OK and the Huskies. While Rejoice might not have Wilson on Friday, the Huskies still have Drummond and he’s been one of the top passers in the state this season. If Pawhuska can pull the upset Friday night, they’ll take a ton of momentum into the playoffs.
