2022 6A Regular Season All-State Team: Offense
In this article:
With high school football playoffs in full swing in Kentucky, I have decided to take a look back at the top players from the regular season. In order to do so, I have been releasing my 2022 Regular Season All-State teams for each class. After covering 1-5A, I will wrap things up with my top players in 6A. With that being said, here is my 2022 6A Regular Season All-State offense.
Travis Egan Travis Egan 6’2″ | 200 lbs | QB Bullitt East | 2023 State KY is a quarterback that I’ve been high on for a while now and he continued to impress this year. Egan had an outstanding final regular season, completing 137/210 passes for 1,976 yards, 23 touchdowns, and only four interceptions. Travis has very impressive arm strength. He uses his arm to lead his receivers down the field in the deep passing game and to zip the ball into tight windows in the short/intermediate passing game. Egan also puts a nice amount of touch on his passing, placing the ball where only his receiver can get to it. He also has shown the ability to tuck the ball and make big plays on the ground, finishing the regular season with 70 carries for 501 yards and eleven touchdowns. Travis currently holds one offer from Kentucky Wesleyan but I believe he deserves more attention from college programs as he has the talent to become a very productive starting quarterback at the next level.
Highlights
Zah’Ron Washburn Zah’Ron Washburn 5’11” | 180 lbs | ATH DuPont Manual | 2024 KY is a player that I had on my radar coming into this season but exceeded my expectations in a big way. He finished his junior regular season with 175 carries for 1,087 yards and 17 touchdowns. Washburn has great vision as a ball carrier, finding the running lane and coming downhill in a hurry once it opens up. He is a very strong runner, keeping his feet running through contact and showing the contact balance to break tackles without breaking stride. Washburn has also shown the speed in the open field to run away from the defense. Zah’Ron currently holds an offer from Eastern Kentucky and I expect more to come his way as he is a true Division I caliber talent at running back.
Highlights
Quintel Thomas Quintel Thomas 5’11” | 190 lbs | RB Eastern | 2023 State KY is a player that jumped onto my radar quickly this year. He had an outstanding final regular season, running the ball 236 times for 1,632 yards and 12 touchdowns. Thomas is a downhill runner that hits the running lane with a sense of urgency. Once he hits the second level, he has the speed to run straight through the defense without being touched on his way to the end zone. He also has the contact balance to bounce off defenders without breaking stride. Thomas currently holds one offer from Pikeville but he deserves more attention from college coaches as he has the talent to be a productive ball carrier at the next level.
Jakob Dixon Jakob Dixon 6’5″ | 200 lbs | WR Pleasure Ridge Park | 2023 State KY is another player that has been high on my radar for a while now and continued to impress this season. He had a very good final regular season, finishing with 53 receptions for 919 yards and 13 touchdowns. Dixon is a very dangerous deep threat with the speed to run right by defensive backs to create separation. He is very impressive after the catch, showing the ability to make defenders miss in the open field to turn short passes into big gains. Dixon is also a very willing blocker in the run game that plays with a ton of physicality, showing the ability to drive his man out of the picture. Dixon is committed to Kentucky where I can see him developing into a key contributor for them on offense.
Coming into this season, I considered Shaun Boykins Shaun Boykins 6’2″ | 185 lbs | WR North Hardin | 2024 State KY one of the best receivers in the state. He continued to prove that to be true, finishing his junior regular season with 52 receptions for 797 yards and ten touchdowns. Boykins is the type of player that you just need to get the ball in his hands and let him do the rest. He is electric after the catch, using his speed and elusiveness in the open field to turn short passes and screens into big plays. Boykins also is able to use his speed to pose as a threat in the deep passing game. He also has shown some promise as a ball carrier, finishing the regular season with 23 carries for 166 yards and three touchdowns. Shaun currently holds offers from Kentucky, Louisville, Eastern Kentucky, Akron, and Miami (OH), and I expect that list to continue to grow as he is a Power 5 caliber talent.
Jayden West Jayden West 6’3″ | 165 lbs | ATH Madison Central | 2023 State KY caught my attention early this off-season and continued to impress during the regular season. West finished his final regular season with 35 catches for 524 yards and 12 touchdowns. He is an athletic wide receiver that has the speed to win down the field on the outside. West also has very good route running skills, using smooth breaks in his routes to create separation. He has also shown the ability to go up and catch passes at their highest point, even when contested. West also played a key role on defense but I still liked what I saw from him the most on offense. Jayden currently holds an offer from Eastern Kentucky but I believe he deserves more offers from college programs as he is a Division I caliber talent at receiver.
Noah Meyers Noah Meyers 6’5″ | 225 lbs | TE Trinity | 2023 State KY is a hybrid wide receiver/tight end that played a key role in Trinity’s offense this season. He finished his final regular season with 22 catches for 277 yards and four touchdowns. Meyers has shown the ability to line up on the outside and in the slot, and has had success in both spots. He has the speed to pose as a deep threat and a high catch radius, which he uses to make contested catches. After the catch, Meyers has shown the speed to turn up the field to pick up extra yards. I also like what he brings to the table as a blocker in the run game, showing the ability to pick up blocks in space and finish with a ton of physicality. Noah is committed to Western Kentucky where he will be asked to play tight end and I believe he can thrive in that pass-heavy offense.
Highlights
Malachi Wood Malachi Wood 6’8″ | 280 lbs | OL Madison Central | 2023 State KY is our top ranked offensive lineman in the class of 2023 in Kentucky and continued to impress this season. He is a massive left tackle, measuring in at 6’8”, 280 pounds. Wood is a dominant run blocker, exploding out of his stance and driving his feet through contact to create movement off the line of scrimmage. He also has shown the ability to get to the second level and pick up blocks in open space. In pass protection, Wood has impressive footwork and does a great job of protecting his inside gap. Malachi is committed to Kentucky where I see him developing into a key piece of their offensive line.
Another senior offensive lineman that impressed me this season is Trevon Alexander Trevon Alexander 6’7″ | 345 lbs | OL North Hardin | 2023 State KY from North Hardin. Alexander lines up at right guard and is a very impressive run blocker. He has an explosive first step and drives his feet through contact to create movement off the line of scrimmage. Alexander also has shown the ability to get to the second level and out in front of the ball carrier in the open field and destroy anything in his path. In pass protection, Alexander does a good job of protecting his inside gap and pick up stunts/blitzes. Trevon currently holds offers from Kentucky and Eastern Kentucky, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see more come his way as he is a Division I caliber offensive lineman.
Another talented senior on the North Hardin offensive line is Demoni Taylor Demoni Taylor 6’4″ | 265 lbs | OL North Hardin | 2023 State KY . Taylor played left tackle and proved to be a very dominant run blocker. He does a great job of running his feet through contact to drive his man down the field. Taylor is a very physical finisher that blocks through the whistle, resulting in several pancake blocks. As a pass protector, Taylor does a great job of mirroring pass rushers off the edge and continuing to work to keep them away from the quarterback. Demoni is committed to Southeast Missouri State where I see him developing into a key piece of their offensive line.
Aba Selm Aba Selm 6’4″ | 295 lbs | OL Simon Kenton | 2024 State KY is a player that I’ve had high on my radar for a while now and he continued to impress this season. Selm is a physical left tackle to dominates in the run game. He explodes through contact and drives his man several yards down the field, often finishing with a pancake block. Selm has also shown the ability to pull from the tackle spot and pick up blocks in the open field. In pass protection, Selm does a great job of getting into his pass sets quickly and mirroring pass rushers off the edge. Aba currently holds offers from Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky, Campbell, and Purdue, and I expect more to come his way as he is a Power 5 caliber offensive tackle.
Andrew Hobbs Andrew Hobbs 6’5″ | 305 lbs | OL Central Hardin | 2023 State KY is another senior offensive lineman that stood out to me this season. Hobbs is a big, physical right tackle that is an aggressive finisher in the run game. He blocks through the whistle, resulting in a lot of pancake blocks. Hobbs has also shown the ability to pull from the tackle spot and pick up blocks in the open field as a lead blocker. Andrew holds offers from Campbellsville, Charleston, Findlay, and Kentucky Wesleyan, and I could see more coming his way as he has received a ton of college interest and has the talent to be a very good offensive lineman at the next level.
To wrap up my 2022 6A Regular Season All-State Offense, I have a player that did a little bit of everything for his team this season. Santana Crayton Santana Crayton 5’10” | 185 lbs | ATH Pleasure Ridge Park | 2024 State KY jumped onto my radar this year with a very impressive junior regular season. He was at his best at receiver, finishing the regular season with 27 catches for 476 yards and seven touchdowns in nine games. Crayton has elite speed which he uses to run right by opposing defensive backs in the deep passing game. He is also very electric after the catch, using his speed and elusiveness in the open field to turn short passes and screens into big plays. Crayton also showed some ability as a ball carrier, finishing the regular season with eleven carries for 26 yards a touchdown. He also showed that he is a very dangerous returner on special teams, returning four punt returns for touchdowns this season. Santana doesn’t currently hold any official offers but has been receiving interest from multiple Division I programs and has the talent to be an elite play maker at the next level.
