Ertel had a fantastic year to start his High School campaign. Over the weeks, his confidence grew and you could see it as he saw the field better and was making quicker decisions with the ball. He’s a lefty with a good arm, is a decent athlete, and has a ton of upside still to climb. He’s able to step into a throw and put some mustard on it along with up and over the top. Ertel isn’t afraid of pressure in his face and is able to stand in there and deliver the ball. He dishes the ball to the open guy and moves the ball downfield. He’s efficient in moving the offense and will take his shot. There are times he’ll take the aggressive throw. If he’s able to develop over the next few years he could really take off. He’s a smart player with a good vision of the field and things happening around him. To start his career, he completed just about 58% of his passes for 1700-yards and 16 TDs. A really good start to a career loaded with promise. There are a lot to things to like with Ertel and what he showed in his first campaign out. If he’s able to stack and build on it over the next few years, he’s going to be a stud when he comes out.
Dammy Adeoba – Pike – OLB/SS – 6’0″ 160lbs – 2026
Adeoba is an explosive athlete who is figuring it all out on the field. He’s a LB who has a ton of range and can cover sideline to sideline. He’s got that elite speed you want LBs to have which allows them to kill plays even when there’s a potential lane to the outside. Adeoba has demonstrated time and time again this year he can play in the running game or make an impact in the passing game. He’s smart in coverage and knows when to look for the ball. He’ll snap his head back and pick it off if possible. He’s even returned 1 to the house for 6 already. He’s tough and explosive enough to get off blocks and get in the backfield. He’s got good feet and seems to just have a really good feel for things on the field and what’s happening around him. Adeoba seems like he’s got that switch to flip on and off where he becomes a menace on the field and you have to appreciate it. When the ball is snapped he just hits another gear. With his raw frame, athleticism, and the fact that he’s got a ton of raw ability waiting to be unleashed, I’d say Adeoba is right where he should be. By the time he graduates he could be a name a lot of people in the state know.
Connor Moreland Connor Moreland 6'0" | 190 lbs | QB Speedway | 2026 State IN – Speedway – QB – 6’0″ 180lbs – 2026
Moreland is a pocket passing QB who knows where to go with the ball, when to get it there, and then has the arm to make the throw. He’s typically able to set his feet and square his shoulders and unload a ball. Usually, it feels like he gets the ball out on a 3-step count. He’s able to take off and run if he needs to but he’s best in the pocket. Moreland is going to put the ball on his receiver and give his guy, and only him, a shot at the ball. He doesn’t seem to make many mistakes and is able to bounce right back if he does. He’s got a decent arm and is able to throw it rather effortlessly. When he’s extending plays and rolling out he keeps his eyes downfield and will make a throw on the run. For his age, he’s fairly good at going through progressions and coming off a receiver if there’s nothing there. He’s got no issue hitting his check-down and taking a small profit. Where he is now, you have to be excited. Moreland feels like he’s been well-coached to this point and still has 3-years of development left. There’s a lot to be excited about when looking at Speedway for the next few years with Moreland running the show.
Martez Virgil – Brownsburg – ATH – 5’5″ 125lbs – 2026
Virgil is going to be a problem down the road. While I know immediately everyone is going to talk about his height, he’s a freshman, and more importantly, is a problem. This dude can fly. I mean FLY. You are not going to catch him and he’s going to blow right by you. The speed he runs with compared to everyone else is like Tyreek Hill running around. Virgil is incredibly shifty and hard to bring down if you can even get near him. He’s able to blow right by the second level and is open for a TD almost immediately. They’ve used him in the multiple phases of the game and it’s the same result. Whether it’s a screen pass, deep shot, or kick return you have to find a way to get him on the ground. The problem is he’s able to start and stop on a dime, will out juke you to mars, and will be back full speed immediately. If you’ve ever watched Tavon Austin’s college highlights that’s what it feels like watching Virgil’s. My favorite play was where he went in motion, caught a touch pass, and made the whole defense miss for a long TD. He’s electric and is a ton of fun to watch. When you’re that shifty, that explosive, and that fun to watch you are going to have attention come your way when the time comes and I expect that to be the case with Virgil.
Zane Newman Zane Newman 6'0" | 245 lbs | DL Westfield | 2026 State IN – Westfield – DT – 5’10” 180lbs – 2026
Newman is a fun upcoming interior lineman who is really good against the run. He’s got a fantastic ability to split gaps by timing the snap of the ball. He’s been able to get in the backfield seemingly routinely and blow up the play in the backfield. He’s aggressive and not afraid to use his hands. He’s got a lower center of gravity which helps him win when he’s got to be the low man. He’s off the ball rather quick and can jump gap to gap without much of an issue. Newman has shown the ability to come off blocks and make the play on the ball carrier as he goes past hi as well. He’s played some on the outside of the line and had success there but with how he can win on the inside, and his ability to get leverage, I imagine he stays on the inside. He’s aggressive and is willing to take calculated risks in the running game as well. If he gets his hands on the ball he’s going to get it out as well. He’s someone who does a lot of the little things well and over the next few years as he develops he could really blow up and get on everyone’s radar.
