Continue ReadingTy Murphy Ty Murphy 6’0″ | 180 lbs | QB Eupora | 2023 State MS is a QB by trade but has rushed for more yards than anyone in 2A giving him this award. One could call him a passing running back if they would like. This year Ty has carried the ball for over 1,800 yards in both designed QB runs and off script opportunities. He has been explosive when he has the ball in his hands averaging over 9 yards per carry and 128 yards per game on the ground. On those carries Murphy has found the endzone 24 times in addition to his 17 passing TDs making him the Eagles MVP this year. Ty has the skill set to be successful at multiple positions at the next level which makes him a great prospect for zone read type offenses.
Highlights
Gavin Griffin Gavin Griffin 5’10” | 185 lbs | RB Velma Jackson | 2024 State MS was electric this year. Every chance he got to run the ball he did so with such aggressiveness and balance that he averaged over 10 yards per carry. Gavin only played in 8 games this season due to unforeseen circumstances, however when he was on the field he would collect nearly 175 yards per game. His explosiveness at the line and in the open field makes him difficult to tackle as he possesses both speed and power. He is a great running back who would fit well into any scheme. Griffin still has one more year to play at the high school level which will give him an opportunity to prove just how effective he can be given a full schedule.
Chance Ross
Chance Ross
Some may consider Chance Ross to be undersized but through his performance Ross says otherwise. Ross has had a great season this year and led his team to a 9-3 Season. As a junior Ross collected 18 TDs for 1,400 yards and over 10.4 yards a carry. Essentially every time Chance carried the ball it resulted in a huge gain. He has proven to have great awareness, power and speed to be an elite back within the 2A region. It will be interesting to see the state that he returns in next year. He is already a promising recruit however if he continues to grow and put on weight he will be a tremendous athlete for sure.
