1.Lehi Pioneers (12-0)
The Pioneers remain our top team after nearly being upset by Box Elder in last week’s quarterfinals. Lehi’s previous four wins before beating the Bess came against Park City, Orem, Timpview, and Alta. All of which appeared in our top five at some point of the season or made it to the quarterfinals. Quarterback Jackson Brousseau Jackson Brousseau 6'5" | 215 lbs | QB Lehi | 2023 State UT and running back Carson Gonzalez lead an offense that has scored over 500 points on the season. Defensive back Kadiyon Sweat Kadiyon Sweat 6'0" | 185 lbs | ATH Lehi | 2023 State UT has five interceptions, while defensive lineman Isaac Terrell Isaac Terrell 6'2" | 240 lbs | DL Lehi | 2023 State UT has eight sacks to lead a Pioneers defense that has only surrendered 103 points. The 2021 state champions are in a great spot to repeat in 2022.
2. Timpview Thunderbirds (9-2)
The Thunderbirds have two losses, but those two losses are against Lehi and Skyridge, our top two teams in the state. Timpview has wins over Bingham, Lone Peak, Orem, East and Alta. All of their wins have been blowouts, with their two losses decided by a total of 11 points. Running back Micah Beckstead Micah Beckstead 5'11" | 210 lbs | RB Timpview | 2023 State UT and offensive lineman Spencer Fano Spencer Fano 6'5" | 270 lbs | OL Timpview | 2023 State UT head one of the state’s best rushing attacks. Defensive lineman Siale Esera Siale Esera 6'3" | 240 lbs | DL Timpview | 2023 State UT leads the Thunderbirds in tackles and is one of the best defensive players in the state. The Thunderbirds are loaded with as much talent as any team in the state and could win it all.
3. Stansbury Stallions (12-0)
The Stallions, who have the highest-scoring offense in the state (616 points), have yet to lose a game. Stansbury has scored over 34 points in every game this season and over 70 twice. Quarterback Ezra Harris has thrown for 39 touchdowns and rushed for 11. Athlete Mateaki Helu Mateaki Helu 6'0" | 200 lbs | ATH Stansbury | 2023 State UT , receivers Dylan Hamilton Trent Jones, and Brock Wilson combined for 61 total touchdowns. The Stansbury offense gets all the headlines, but their defense is also stout. Linebacker Easton Baker Easton Baker 6'0" | 205 lbs | LB Stansbury | 2024 State UT has over 60 tackles and leads a Stallions defense that has held nine teams to under 21 points. Stansbury could be the best team in the state and will have a chance to prove it when they take on Lehi this Friday.
4. Orem Tigers (8-4)
The third team from Region 3 to make it to the Semifinals Orem can not be taken lightly. The Tigers entered the playoffs with a losing record for the second straight season and won three straight playoff games. Coach Sewell always has his teams ready to play, and they were a last-second score by Springville away from reaching the state championship in 2021. Lance Reynolds is a dynamic threat at quarterback, and tight end Rodger Saleapaga is one of the state’s best pass catchers. Defensively the Tigers are fierce and always seem to get stops when it matters most. Linebacker Tim To’a leads Orem in tackles and interceptions. The Tigers will have a chance to avenge an early season loss to Timpview in the semifinals.
