1st Quarter
In the first quarter Houston came out and let Louisville know they wanted to win this game. EJ Stovall was on fire, and he was catching everything coming his way. He came up big for them after Houston forced Key Jackson to fumble on the two-yard line. Houston had drove the ball all the way down the field and scored.
Louisville would answer very fast with a quarterback sneak by Jackson. He had calmed down and put the team on their back. Louisville had gotten themselves momentum.
2nd Quarter
In the second quarter Houston was able to score again. Their quarterback gave Louisville a taste of their own medicine with a quarterback sneak for a touchdown. That’s exactly what they needed to let Louisville know they were not going anywhere. Their team showed up to play the ball. Jordan Pratt Jordan Pratt 5'10" | 190 lbs | LB Houston | 2023 MS and Jacobe Pratt were doing everything they could to help their team.
Louisville would answer with a pick six by the sophomore Jacari Owens. The score was now 14-14, and both teams were playing good football. Louisville was playing great defense, but it took a while for their offense to get going.
3rd Quarter
In the third quarter Louisville came out very strong. Swahili Earby was catching a lot of balls and you could tell the senior wanted to win the game. He did not disappoint tonight. Jykevious Goss was also having a field day with the Houston secondary.
EJ Stovall still was not done. He was catching passes left and right, helping his team move the ball down the field. It was very exciting to watch him play tonight.
Louisville wasn’t done just yet.
4th Quarter
The fourth quarter popped up and it was time to lock all the way in. Kendon Sanders Kendon Sanders 5'9" | 200 lbs | LB Louisville | 2024 State MS was in the game, and you know what time that is for Louisville. It means the big boys are in and they are ready to play. Sanders got two carries that probably gained him no more than five yards. The second run was for a touchdown. Louisville was back in the lead and the crowd was going crazy. Both sides were packed, but the Wildcats took some energy from the Hilltopper side.
Houston would attempt to run a screen play that resulted in Louisville scoring on a very easy pick six. The score was now 31-21 and Houston had lost all momentum. When they got the ball back Laterrius Haynes would seal the game by catching his seventh interception of the season.
Louisville will head to Hattiesburg next Saturday to face Mendenhall in the 4A state championship. Louisville is going for the eleventh state title, and their third in the last four years. They continue to keep being great. Today was their twentieth time playing in a semifinal game. Will they win next week?
