2022 Review:
Meridian is saying goodbye to arguably one of the best senior classes in school history. This season was led by those seniors who for years had watched their high school suffer some demoralizing defeats and some very down seasons. This group changed the landscape of Meridian Football as they led the team to its first state championship game since 2007. Using a crushing defense that was by far the best in the state Meridian was able to dominate teams in what many coaches stated was their base defense. They had talent all over the field with some of the best linebacker in the entire state along with 4 seniors in the backend that made completing passes a daunting task for anyone that they came up against. This is going to be a defense to remember as it was highlighted by stars who didn’t seek the spotlight but who cared about being physical at the point of attack and making teams earn every inch. Offensively Meridian was a little bit of a throwback running the Wing T using multiple play fakes and running back who could get yards in buches. Led by their three headed monster in the backfield Meridian did its damage by holding on to the football constantly winning the time of possession battle. Using a smart young signal caller who beat a lot of teams off of play action in the passing game and has one of the best deep balls in the state. This Meridian team is going to be remembered for a long time across the state of Idaho and should feel proud of everything they accomplished this season.
